Victoria will go into a snap seven-day lockdown from midnight Thursday as it grapples with a new COVID-19 outbreak.
Here are all the new rules and restrictions.
Restricted: Masks
Masks must be worn indoors and outdoors except at home.
Restricted: Movement
There are five reasons to leave home:
- Shopping for food and supplies at shops within 5 kilometres from home unless the closest shop is further than 5km away
- Exercise with a two-hour limit with one other person and within 5km from home
- Compassionate care, caregiving and medical reasons
- Authorised work or permitted education, or work interstate
- To get vaccinated
Restricted: Hospitals and care
Aged care facilities will not be allowed visitors except for limited reasons.
Visitors to hospitals are only allowed if it's for patients on end-of-life care, a parent accompanying a child, or to support a partner giving birth.
Restricted: Education and childcare
All schools will move to remote learning except for vulnerable children and children of authorised workers.
Childcare and kindergartens will remain open.
Restricted: Workplaces
Victorians must work from home unless they are authorised workers.
Restricted: Gatherings
Public and private gatherings are not permitted indoors or outdoors, except for visiting intimate partners.
Single-person bubbles are allowed for those living alone.
Restricted: Shopping
Supermarkets, petrol stations, bottle shops, banks, and pharmacies can remain open but Victorians must only shop within 5km of home unless the closest shop is more than 5km away.
Other retail can provide click-and-collect.
Restricted: Weddings and funerals
A maximum of 10 people are allowed at funerals, plus those running the service.
Weddings are not allowed unless deportation or end-of-life reasons apply.
Restricted: Entertainment
All entertainment venues will close but click-and-collect is permitted at libraries.
Restricted: Beauty services
All hairdressers, personal services, and beauty services must close.
Restricted: Sport and exercise
Victorians can exercise for up to two hours a day within 5km of their home with a maximum of one other person.
Swimming pools and gyms will close.
Approved professional sporting events can go ahead but without spectators.
Restricted: Places of worship
Must move to broadcast only with a maximum of five people.
Restricted: Food
Restaurants, pubs, and cafes can provide takeaway only.
Restricted: Real estate
Auctions must move online.
Restricted: Public spaces
No outdoor gatherings are allowed.
Restricted: Travel and tourism
Victorian residents cannot travel further than 5km from their home unless they need to access food and other essential supplies outside the 5km radius.
Unrestricted: Curfew
There is no curfew in place.
