Crime scene established as search for bodies of allegedly murdered Sydney couple expanded - 9News

The search for the bodies of allegedly murdered Sydney couple Jesse Baird and Luke Davies has been expanded, as family members pay tribute to the pair.

The search spread beyond Sydney and Newcastle today as detectives combed through a part of the NSW town of Goulburn, in the Southern Tablelands.

Tonight, police confirmed they'd set up a crime scene about 20 kilometres south-east of the city, at Hazelton Road in Bungania.

"Divers from the Marine Area Command were called to the scene and have today been assisting with a search at the location.," police said, in a statement.

The search was suspended tonight but expected to resume in the morning.

Detectives were also seen removing more bags of items from Baird's home in Paddington in Sydney's eastern suburbs.

NSW Police Constable Beau Lamarre-Condon was charged on Friday with their murders.

"You cared about everyone and left such an impact on every person you met," he said.

Earlier today, the NSW Police Commissioner issued a statement about the "distressing" alleged murders amid scrutiny over police protocols.

"I understand there are many unanswered questions and while I cannot comment on the matter before the courts, I can reassure Luke and Jesse's loved ones, and the people of NSW, that we are working around the clock to find those answers." Commissioner Karen Webb said in a statement.

Baird was a former TV presenter for Network Ten's morning show Studio Ten.
