Coronavirus Australia live updates: What you can and can't do in Victoria from Thursday - NEWS.com.au

With 64 new cases yesterday and 75 the day before, the state government announced several Victorian suburbs will initiate Stage 3 Stay at Home restrictions at 11.59pm tonight, meaning the more than 300,000 residents in those postcodes are only allowed to leave the house for four reasons.

They are: Shopping for food and supplies, care and caregiving, exercise and study and work (if it’s not possible to do so from home).

NSW is yet to see a similar outbreak, with only five new cases recorded yesterday, but Premier Gladys Berejiklian urged residents to remain vigilant in stopping the spread.

“I have noticed in and around my movements that people are starting to relax a little bit too much for my liking,” Ms Berejiklian said. “Don’t relax. Assume everybody in and around you has the disease.”

More COVID-19 restrictions will ease across New South Wales today as the state continues to record a low number of new virus cases.

Despite the positive result, Premier Gladys Berejiklian urged residents not to relax.

"I have noticed in and around my movements that people are starting to relax a little bit too much for my liking,” Ms Berejiklian said. "Don’t relax. Assume everybody in and around you has the disease.

"Just because we haven't had the community transmission that's occurred elsewhere doesn't mean it can't happen … and the way that we stop it from happening is by maintaining the social distancing, the hand hygiene and sticking to the rules.''

Here is everything you can do in NSW from July 1:

– The 50 person limit inside indoor venues will be removed, with the number of people allowed in the venues determined by the one person per 4 square metre rule.

– Cultural and sporting events at outdoor venues with a maximum capacity of 40,000 will be allowed up to 25 per cent of their normal capacity.

– On compassionate grounds, restrictions on funerals will immediately be eased to allow the four square metre rule to apply.

– All other restrictions including 20 guests inside the home and 20 for outside gatherings remain the same.

– Public transport passenger limits will increase, with 68 people per train carriage, 23 passengers on an average two-door bus and up to 250 passengers on ferries.

Millions of Australians are about to get a $750 payment in coming weeks as part of the federal government’s coronavirus package to boost the economy.

The second Economic Support Payment (ESP) will hit the bank accounts of eligible government benefit recipients, including retirees and families, from July 15.

Age pensioners, Family Tax Benefit recipients and Commonwealth Seniors Health Card holders are also among those in line for the payment.
