A woman has been charged with murder after she allegedly drove into her former partner with a four-wheel-drive deliberately at his home in Sydney's west, fatally pinning him against a wall.
Police allege the woman and the man argued before she got into her Toyota Kluger and drove towards the 31-year-old in a unit complex car park at Wentworth Point about 8.30pm on Saturday.
Witnesses reported hearing a loud bang and feeling the concrete shake.
Police arrived to the Hill Road address to find the man, who had been pinned against a brick wall, with severe injuries. He died at the scene despite being treated by police and paramedics.
The 44-year-old woman, alleged to have been behind the wheel of the Toyota, was arrested and taken to Concord Hospital under police guard. She was treated for a fractured wrist, believed to have been sustained in the crash, and underwent mandatory testing.
When she was released from hospital she was taken to Auburn police station and charged with domestic violence-related murder. The Quakers Hill woman was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday.
Acting Superintendent Peter Glynn, the commander of Auburn Police Area Command, said police believe the pair were previously in a relationship and were involved in an argument before the incident, which was captured on CCTV.
"They had been involved in a verbal argument a short time prior to the female entering the vehicle, where she drove at the male and killed him," Acting Superintendent Glynn said.
"The NSW Police Force takes very seriously all reports of domestic violence, and domestic violence perpetrators will be dealt with accordingly."
Acting Superintendent Glynn said the reason for the woman being at her ex-partner's unit, and what their argument was about, would form part of the police investigation. He said there had been no previous domestic violence incidents reported between the pair.
The officer described the scene as "quite chaotic and quite traumatic".
"The entire incident was captured on CCTV and a number of witnesses who were in the apartment complex called 000 and rendered aid," he said.
"It was a very traumatic incident for the witnesses who rendered first aid, and particularly for the first-response police and NSW Ambulance officers."
Footage from the scene showed part of the undercover car park cordoned off by police tape. The scene was examined by forensic investigators.
Witness Usha Kodr told Seven News he "heard a bang and the whole concrete floor just, like, sort of shook".
"Then we heard the ambulance and the police cars come by and we came down to check it out, to see what's going on," Mr Kodr said.
