NSW records five coronavirus cases overnight, two of those in hotel quarantine - ABC News

Health authorities in NSW have confirmed five new coronavirus infections in the 24 hours to 8:00pm yesterday.

NSW chief medical officer Kerry Chant said three of those cases were all located in South-West Sydney and were all locally acquired.

One of the new infections identified is a mystery infection.

"That includes one who is a household contact of a previously reported case, associated with the July funerals cluster," Dr Chant said.

"There was also one gentlemen in his 20s who, again, source was unknown, but investigations are underway."

The third case is an outpatient at Liverpool Hospital.

The remaining two cases were returned travellers in hotel quarantine.

A total of 28,767 tests were completed in the reporting period, compared to 19,414 the day before.

More to come.
