Health Minister Greg Hunt says federal health authorities 'respectfully disagree' with Victorian roadmap
Speaking on News Breakfast earlier this morning, Greg Hunt said federal authorities disagreed with the length of time outlined for eased restrictions.
"The last thing that you do is to lock down a population," he said.
"We supported it, reluctantly, but we recognised it needed to be done given the situation in Victoria, the entry into stage 3 and stage 4 restrictions.
"We do disagree now, respectfully. We disagree on the length and time and threshhold that has been put in place, and leading epidemiologists...all have expressed concern about the Victoria has put in place.
It is a simple comparison. Sydney would be under curfew under those standards announced and yet there are able to manage. And we know we can do that and that is why we are offering Victoria more help with their contact tracing in a positive, real, gesture that is aimed at assisting them and assisting Victoria.

Queensland's debt climbs to more than $100 billion
An economist says political commentators need to maintain perspective when examining a coronavirus-led blow-out in Queensland's debt levels.
Yesterday's economic update showed total debt will climb to more than 100-billion-dollars by the middle of next year.
That's $18 billion more than the pre-pandemic forecast, and includes about $11 billion of economic stimulus related to the COVID-19 response.
Deloitte economist Pradeep Philip says governments at all levels have seen their bottom lines decimated by the pandemic.
"Federally, Australia's net debt is approaching $700 billion — an increase of nearly $200 billion," he said.
"Governments everywhere have one common objective - use the government balance sheet to prop up the economy."

Former police officer raised alarm about security breaches, inquiry hears
Documents tendered to Victoria's Hotel Quarantine Inquiry reveal a former police officer raised the alarm about security breaches just two weeks into the program.
The documents reveal the former police officer, whose name is redacted, wrote to Police Commander Tim Tully with concerns about how the Pan Pacific hotel was guarding its guests.
The man reported seeing multiple guests leaving designated exercise areas, including one who went to a convenience store and another who visited a coffee shop.
The correspondence prompted a meeting with Victoria Police and private security contractors. After the meeting officers agreed there were concerns around exercise but determined police would not be required on site at all times.

Trump says vaccine could be available before US election
US President Donald Trump says a COVID-19 vaccine could be available before the November presidential election.
Donald Trump said he expected the vaccine to be available by the end of the year, but he thought it might be as early as next month.
Earlier Democrat vice presidential candidate, Kamala Harris, expressed doubts about an early announcement saying she feared scientists could be pressured into releasing a vaccine too early to suit the political needs of the President.
Donald Trump said Kamala Harris should apologise for undermining public confidence in what will be a lifesaving vaccine.

School reopens after false positive COVID-19 result
A Western Sydney school will re-open this morning after health authorities found a student who had initially tested positive to COVID-19 does not have the disease.
The student of Lidcombe Public School tested positive for coronavirus on the weekend, but infection has been ruled out following further testing.
Staff and students who were considered close contacts are no longer required to isolate, as the school returns to face-to-face learning today.
A notice on the school's website says NSW Health acknowledged the response may have adversely affected families and that it apologised for "any distress this may have caused".
