NSW has recorded no new coronavirus cases for the first time in three months, as health authorities issue a warning for people to remain vigilant during the school holidays.
Key points:
- There were 12,333 COVID-19 tests carried out in the reporting period
- Health authorities urge people to continue testing if symptoms appear
- They say this is most important with more people travelling during school holidays
NSW Health's Dr Christine Selvey said the last time the state recorded no new cases in a reporting period was on June 10.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in NSW remains at 4,029.
There are 68 people currently being treated by NSW Health, with three in intensive care.
There were 12,333 COVID-19 tests taken in the reporting period, compared to 12, 258 the previous day.
Dr Selvey urged people to continue to come forward for testing if they experienced symptoms like a runny nose, scratchy throat, cough or fever.
"This is particularly important for the start of the school holidays and increased movement of people around the state," she said.
The latest figures come as NSW recorded zero cases of local transmission four times last week.
Meanwhile, a man will appear in court today, charged after allegedly attempting to travel across the NSW-Victoria border in a taxi.
Police at a checkpoint on the Hume Highway in Albury stopped a Victorian taxi around 4:30pm yesterday.
Police said the 26-year-old passenger told them he wanted to go shopping in Albury.
However police allege the permit he produced was invalid.
