Victoria has recorded 15 new coronavirus cases and two further deaths overnight.
Metropolitan Melbourne's 14-day rolling average has dropped slightly from 16.4 yesterday to 15.6 today.
Regional Victoria's rolling average remains at 0.3.
The number of "mystery" cases with an unknown source recorded in Melbourne in the latest two-week period remains at 21, after dropping from Tuesday's total of 27.
In order for Melbourne to move to step three of the state's "roadmap" out of restrictions, Victoria needs to record a 14-day average below five and fewer than five "mystery" infections over two weeks.
Premier Daniel Andrews said yesterday Melbourne was "on track" to take steps out of lockdown in October, and defended the pace of the state's roadmap.
"I know these numbers are coming down and that's a great thing … you've got to do this in a steady way."
The State Government is expected to provide more details on today's coronavirus numbers later today.
The Premier's coronavirus press conference time has not been confirmed yet.
Data released by Victoria's Department of Health and Human Services overnight has shown more than 100 healthcare workers were infected with coronavirus at two Melbourne hospitals since the start of the pandemic.
