AFL star Sydney Stack has reportedly been charged with breaching strict quarantine rules in Western Australia.
The Richmond forward flew into WA from South Australia on Thursday after being granted a travel exemption on compassionate grounds, and was instructed to self-isolate for 14 days as per COVID-19 regulations.
But Stack was allegedly found partying in the early hours of Saturday morning and, according to the Herald Sun, police allege he was staying at a different residence in a suburb other than the one he nominated he would be staying at for his two weeks in quarantine.
The publication reports he was arrested, charged and refused bail.
Channel 7 reporter Syan Dougherty said Stack told a Perth court “my career is on the line”, and the magistrate called it a “serious” and “blatant” breach.
Earlier in the year, Stack received a 10-match AFL after he and Tigers teammate Callum Coleman-Jones were involved in a scuffle near a strip club while living on the Gold Coast as part of the AFL hub.
Stack took to Instagram after the affair to apologise for breaking the rules.
“I’m very sorry, understand the seriousness of it and can do nothing now but own the consequences,” Stack wrote in September.
“I’ve let down the AFL, the club I love, my teammates, coaches and staff, its members and the tiger army.
“I also have let down my family, my friends and all of those who have helped me along the way.
“To those who are supporting me at the moment, a huge thanks. I only hope going forward I can rebuild trust in me again.”
Stack missed Richmond’s grand final win over Geelong as a result of his ban.
