PM believes Victoria will get on top of outbreak
The Prime Minister has thrown his support behind Victoria, telling 3AW radio the response to the outbreak should be proportionate.
"They need to get on top of this quicky and I believe they will, as other states have," Scott Morrison said.
"Victorians have shown enormous tenacity and patience, there's no option.
"They should be able to get on top of this as other states have."
Mr Morrison said he understood the "sensitivity" of the idea of another lockdown in Melbourne after the toll it took last year.
He also again pushed back at the suggestion that quarantine should move from major cities to regional areas to reduce the risk of outbreaks in large population centres.
"You've got transfer risks, you've got workforce that you have to have in place in those situations," Mr Morrison said.
"You're further away from major big hospitals, it isn't just a function of a room and a bed."
