Victorian testing commander Jeroen Weimar breaks down testing figures
He said authorities received 20,116 tests yesterday.
"[So far] 8500 negative results already this morning. A further 7000 or so tests being processed. A continuing trend over the last few days. Testing centres open for business, seeing solid numbers this morning, waiting times, 60 Minutes up to two hours."
He urged people to get tested, before explaining the cases at the airport cafe, Brunetti's.
"Yesterday we discussed a number of lines of inquiry we were actively following up, the most important and concerning was the cafe at the airport, Brunetti's," he said.
"All 12 staff have been tested and 11 are negative. We have one more test result we are waiting on. That will come through later today. An encouraging start.
"We also have 38 customers of Brunetti's cafe contacted, we got the details from them yesterday, all followed up last night and this morning.
"Interviewing and testing all of them on our contacts to establish if they have had any exposure to this. Can I also add the people including the Brunetti's staff who have tested negative, people part of this investigation will be isolated for 14 days even when they return a negative test result which is a very encouraging sign, they will be monitored closely."
He explained a contact of a COVID-19 Quarantine Victoria worker tested positive:
"Late yesterday, we returned and found a positive result of a man in his 30s and the Point Cook area. He is a social contact of one of our CQV Staff members, and we are continuing to investigate the full extent of those contact on that worker continues."
