‘TikTok guy’ charged over Sydney anti-lockdown protest - NEWS.com.au

Jon-Bernard Kairouz, otherwise known as “TikTok guy”, has been charged for his appearance at yesterday’s anti-lockdown protest in Sydney.

The 24-year-old comedian, who shot to fame when he accurately predicted the daily Covid-19 case numbers for five days in a row, allegedly spoke to a crowd of thousands during Saturday’s protest.

He had even dubbed himself “the people’s premier” as he spoke to a cheering sea of people waving Australian flags and holding signs decrying masks and vaccines yesterday.

“I must say I’ve crunched the numbers, I don’t think the cases are going to go up tomorrow,” he told the crowd.

“But from what I’ve calculated there’s over 50,000 people here today.”

Today, NSW police attended Mr Kairouz’s home and issued him with a PIN (penalty infringement notice) for attending the protest.

Footage released by police shows a man, dressed in a blue T-shirt with “Brydens Lawyers” emblazoned on it, and with face blurred, standing outside a home in the Sydney suburb of Belmore.

A police spokesperson said Mr Kairouz was issued with a court attendance notice for two counts of not comply with noticed direction/Covid-19 and encourage commission of crime.

He is due to attend Bankstown court at a later date.

Meanwhile, NSW Police said they have received more than 5500 reports from members of the public and have identified over 200 people, as they continue to investigate yesterday’s protest under Strike Force Seasoned.

So far, 63 people have been arrested and 35 people – aged between 18 and 69 – were charged with various offences. That includes assault police officer in execution of duty, resist officer in execution of duty, wilfully obstruct officer in execution of duty and not comply with noticed direction re 7/8/9 – Covid-19.

Of these, 20 were refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today.

At least 90 PINS were also issued for breaches of the public health orders.
