A deputy principal at a high school in Sydney's north-west has been charged with online child exploitation offences after allegedly attempting to lure a 14-year-old girl for sex.
Earlier this month, police detectives from the child abuse and sex crime squad's child exploitation internet unit began engaging online with a man from the Hills District.
Police allege the man believed he was speaking with a 14-year-old girl and engaged in sexually explicit conversations about acts he wanted to perform on the child.
The man also allegedly made arrangements to meet and pay the girl for sex.
Following extensive investigations, Strike Force Trawler detectives arrested the 47-year-old man at Westmead about 4.30pm on Monday.
Officers executed a search warrant at a home in Rouse Hill, where detectives seized several items including a laptop and an electronic storage device.

The man was taken to Granville police station and charged with using a carriage service to procure a child under 16 for sexual activity, and using a carriage service to transmit child abuse material.
The man was refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court on Tuesday.
A spokesman for the NSW Education Department declined to comment, referring questions to NSW Police.
Strike Force Trawler is an ongoing investigation by the child exploitation internet unit into the sexual abuse and exploitation of children facilitated through the internet and related telecommunications devices.
