Victorian exposure sites will be removed, CHO Brett Sutton says
By Kathy Lord
Victoria's Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton confirmed the last exposure sites related to the Delta and Kappa outbreaks over the past two weeks are being removed.
"I'm pleased to confirm that today the last public exposure sites related to these outbreaks will come down having past the 14 day mark," Professor Sutton said.
"That includes the Kings Park complex with around 200 residents formally cleared at midnight last night having had their day 13 tests."
Professor Sutton said the risks may not be over and they're checking to make sure all of the primary close contacts are clear including those who are not connected to the public exposure sites.
"We are in a very good position. That's not a boast. We've all been humbled by this virus.
"That's an opportunity to thank the contact tracers all our local public health units but most of all, all Victorians because it has been a … huge collective effort and sacrifice of everyone across the state.
"To steadily stamp out simultaneously outbreaks of Delta and Kappa variants is no small thing. We hope we're there."
Professor Sutton said Victoria is in a "stable position."
Victoria is managing six primary close contacts linked to the Northern Territory gold mine site, the Chief Health Officer said.
All of them have tested negative and are in quarantine.
