Premier Gladys Berejiklian said while the drop from yesterday’s 30 new cases was encouraging, people should be prepared for cases to rise in coming days.
“While the numbers today are less than the numbers yesterday, we have to be prepared for the numbers to bounce around and we have to be prepared for the numbers to go up considerably,” she said.
It follows a raft of new restrictions being announced for parts of Queensland, including rules around masks, weddings and household gatherings.
Multiple states and territories are on high alert as Covid-19 cases emerge across the country, with cases popping up in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Darwin yesterday. This has prompted multiple states to introduce restrictions and slam their borders shut.
On Sunday, NSW recorded 30 new cases, bringing its outbreak to 102, NT recorded four cases, Qld recorded three cases and WA recorded one case.

NSW has recorded 18 new Covid-19 cases in the 24 hours to 8pm last night, bringing the total number of infections in the cluster to 130.
That is a drop from the 30 cases announced on Sunday.
There were almost 59,000 tests conducted in the past 24 hours.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian said all but one of those new cases had been linked to known infections.
She said about six of the cases were in isolation for their whole infectious period.
Ms Berejiklian said while this was a promising result, people should be prepared for cases to rise in coming days.
"While the numbers today are less than the numbers yesterday, we have to be prepared for the numbers to bounce around and we have to be prepared for the numbers to go up considerably," she said.
"We are seeing almost 100% of transmission within households and are very high rate of transmissibility."
Victorian Daniel Andrews is holding his first press conference since returning to work after a lengthy absence due to injury.
Mr Andrews has to take an extended period of leave after sustaining a serious spinal injury after falling down the stairs.
“It’s great to be back after a lengthy absence, one that was required in terms of a very serious injury. And I want to thank Cath and the kids, I want to thank all my medical team, I want to thank every Victorian who’s sent me cards and notes and best wishes,” he said.
“I want to thank the Deputy Premier, James Merlino, who’s done an outstanding job. To Meagan, his kids, they wouldn’t have been expecting that he would be doing this work.
“I’m particularly grateful to all of those Victorians who sent their best wishes and messages of support. It means the world to me, to Cath, the kids, to all of us.”
NSW's Covid-19 cases are expected to be released at 11am today, but there is already some chatter around how many new infections were recorded overnight.
Nine News reporter Chris O'Keefe said there were reports the case numbers would be around 20, with more than 50,000 tests conducted in the past 24 hours.
Political Editor for Sky News, Andrew Clennell, also said he had heard reports that today's figures would be slightly lower than yesterday's 30 cases.
https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.jsI’m hearing NSW case numbers are around 20, in excess of 50k tests which is great. Not all of these cases were in iso, which isn’t great. Expect the numbers to bounce around all week. @9NewsAUS

Queensland authorities revealed one of the new locally acquired Covid-19 cases has tested positive for the highly-contagious Delta variant.
The case is a female miner from the Sunshine Coast who authorities believe was out in the community for one day while infectious.
"She was with her family and they started a road trip but immediately came back. There are a few service stations and cafes on that route," chief health officer Dr Jeanette Young said.
"Essentially, we don't know where this virus might next pop up."

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced a raft of new Covid-19 restrictions as the state recorded new Covid-19 cases.
There were two new locally acquired Covid-19 cases recorded overnight, prompting the premier to introduce new restrictions.
From 1am on Tuesday, June 29, the following restrictions will come into force for Noosa, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Logan, Redlands, Morton, Brisbane, Gold Coast, the Scenic Rim, the Lockyer Valley, and Somerset:
- Masks will be required and you must carry one at all times outside of the home. They must be worn in indoor spaces such as shopping centres, public transport, hospitals, aged care facilities, churches and workplaces where you can’t physically distance.
- The one per four square metre rule will be reintroduced
- Weddings will be restricted to 100 people, with only 20 people allowed to dance
- Household visitors will be limited to 30
- Dancing in banned, except for a limited number of people at weddings
- You must be seated to eat and drink at hospitality venues
Ms Palaszczuk said the next "24 to 48 hours are going to be very
crucial in Queensland".
Chief health officer Dr Jeanette Young said said Queensland is dealing with "enormous risks throughout our state".
"But I'm confident with all our strategies and our mitigating factors that we have in place and everything that all of us have learned over the last 18 months, that we can manage this," she said.
As NSW heads into its second day under new lockdown restrictions there are already concerns the stay-at-home order could be extended past two weeks.
Residents in Greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharbour local government areas are under lockdown, with only a handful of essential reasons to leave home until 11.59pm on June 9.
However, with cases across Sydney expected to continue to rise, Chair of the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Jane Halton warned restrictions could be extended.
Speaking to Sunrise, Ms Halton said it was good news that all but two cases were linked but said more time may be needed to bring the outbreak under control.
"Two weeks is the amount of time you need to make sure that you actually keep an eye on it in terms of first round of infections, but potentially there will be seeking going on beyond that time, so let's see how the contact tracers go," she said.
"Fingers crossed, but I've got to be honest with you, I'm feeling a bit nervous it might go on for longer."
Chief health officer Jeanette Young said on Sunday that the second week of lockdown would be crucial in determining if restrictions need to be extended.
She said the two week lockdown "may be sufficient" but she would want all community-transmitted cases and their close contacts to be in isolation by the second week in order for restrictions to be eased.
Victoria has recorded no new locally acquired Covid-19 cases in past 24 hours.

Sydneysiders are bracing for another rise in Covid-19 cases today following a warning from Premier Gladys Berejiklian to expect an increase over the coming days.
NSW confirmed 30 new infections on Sunday, bringing the total number of cases in the Sydney cluster to 112.
Of those cases, 110 are linked to the Bondi cluster and two remain under investigation.
Ms Berejiklian said cases are expected to rise again due to the highly-infectious nature of the Delta strain.
“Given how contagious this strain of the virus is, we do anticipate that in the next few days, case numbers are likely to increase even beyond what we have seen [on Sunday],” she said.
Today's Covid-19 figures are expected to be released at 11am.
More school students in Sydney's eastern suburbs have tested positive to Covid-19, forcing hundreds into isolation.
Two more students at South Coogee Public School tested positive to the virus on Sunday, bringing the total number of cases linked to the school to four.
The additional cases at Coogee Public School prompted NSW Health to classify all students at the school as close contacts, forcing them into 14 days of isolation.
The school has been closed since Saturday for deep cleaning.
Emanuel School also notified parents on Sunday evening that one of its students had contracted the virus.
"All secondary staff and students are asked to self-isolate until you receive further advice," the email read, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.
"All primary staff and students should monitor for symptoms and if symptoms develop, be tested and self-isolate until a negative test is received."
The school will be non-operational on Monday, June 28 to allow for deep cleaning.
