Reactions to private plane repatriation in SA
An Australian citizen who was stranded in India for a year says it's unfair that the government allowed a COVID-positive family to arrive in Adelaide from Indonesia last week on a privately funded plane.
Speaking to ABC Radio Adelaide, Sunny Joura says many Australian citizens in India have tested positive to COVID-19 and then been denied repatriation.
"It's quite unfair that some people are able to make it because they have money and even if they are COVID-positive they can fly in, and the government gives them permission," Sunny said.
"I do feel like there seems to be is a double standard, on one hand there are caps for normal passengers, if you like, the ones who have a COVID negative test before boarding the flight, and then you are bringing in passengers who are positive."
The recently-arrived family of three is now at the Tom's Court medi-hotel.
It was the first medevac flight of its kind to enter SA since the pandemic began, but SA Health says it's a common practice interstate.
SA Health has confirmed the family has the highly infectious Delta strain.
