WA case being monitored
WA health authorities are on alert after a man returned a moderately positive COVID-19 test result a day after completing two weeks in hotel quarantine.
The 40-year-old had the virus, but his Day 10 test while undergoing quarantine at the Pan Pacific in Perth was negative, so on Friday he was free to leave.
A follow up test returned the moderately positive result and on Saturday he was taken back into isolation having visited a few locations in the city.
WA CHO Dr Andy Robertson says the man is believed to be shedding viral particles, not the virus.
"Just to reinforce we do not believe he is infectious, but we will need to do some further tests going forward so we will be doing some viral cultures and another whole genome sequencing to actually confirm that is the case."
