A 65-year-old woman suffered severe burns in a house fire in the state’s south on Sunday afternoon, which police believe was linked to domestic violence.
NSW Police have arrested a 42-year-old man, as the woman remained in a critical condition.
Emergency services were called to a home on Bribbaree Road in Bribbaree, 50 kilometres north-west of Young, at about 12pm, following reports a woman had been injured in a house fire.
Officers attached to the Hume Police District arrived to find a 65-year-old woman suffering severe burns.
She was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition.
After appealing to the public for help to find a man who could help with their inquiries, police arrested the 42-year-old on Sunday evening.
