Some good news out of Rochester this morning with confirmation from the State Emergency Service that no homes were inundated during the flood peak.
The flood peak was two centimetres below what had been predicted and the river is now at minor flood level and receding.
The SES says there is still water over roads and it's not yet safe for residents to return.
Further north, floodwaters peaked this morning at Echuca around 6am.
SES Incident Controller Dean Symons says the river there stayed below the moderate flood level.
"It is expected to remain below moderate, but its looking positive," he said.
"Water levels now compared to October last year, its 1.8 metres lower.
"We don't expect any roads to be impacted, we don't expect any houses to be inundated."
